Summer projects are Student Life's equivalent of mission trips that run over the summer holidays. It is one of the few events in the year that sees students from each of the universities around New Zealand get together as one for an extended period of time. There is no other time in your life quite like this when you will be able to freely take time to go on a mission trip—you have no lectures, flexible time, no kids.
In line with our mission to grow Christ-centred labourers who will be sent out into the world with the gospel, students commit a small portion of their summer holidays to reach a subgroup of people, whether that is within NZ or overseas. We want to give everyone an opportunity to respond to the gospel, and we are willing to take action and go out to the masses to bring the gospel and demonstrate Jesus's love to them.
Summer projects provide an environment for students to continue thriving in their faith over the long summer break. This can often be a time where time is unaccounted for and can be better invested in eternal things. On a summer project, you can expect to be trained in evangelism and discipleship and be able to put that into action right away. It is super fun to be able to do this with others who are at a similar point in their faith journey and we guarantee you will make friends for life!
